Death of Encarta

Let me start this slightly off-tangent. Death of Nintendo (2020) is a coming-of-age Filipino film takes us into a journey of self discovery of a 13-year old boy, I'd say it's like death of childhood innocence.

During the time Microsoft Encarta died, the slow downfall of our collective curiosity and wonder followed.

Microsoft discontinued Encarta by the end of 2009. The same year I graduated elementary. Gradually we're losing access to quality, peer-reviewed educational media, print magazines, and television programs for kids kept on canceling. I thought I just outgrew them, little did I know they're slowly fading.

I miss my annual volumes of TIME Almanac for Kids, I miss my daily visits to the library, and the internet where the relevant search results are not ads and hallucinations.

I'd like to resist my habit of seeking instant answers, that I will instantly forget in a few days. I have offloaded the task of remembering because I know it will be on my search history anyway, the web pages will still be there.
